Situated in Toronto’s Port Lands, at the intersection of downtown and Tommy Thompson Park, the site of the decommissioned electrical generating station The Hearn is being reimagined as a pioneering new urban typology for the city. Guided by the principles of re-wilding and heritage conservation, the public realm seamlessly integrates the past and the future, transforming the 13.17-hectare site into a vibrant mixed-use industrial wilderness neighbourhood where people and nature can coexist and flourish. The Hearn will undergo a transformative revitalization, opening its doors to the public.

The vision for the site is grounded on celebrating the heritage Hearn building while protecting for a mix of uses and population required to support the dynamic programming and community amenities envisioned. At the heart of this new district, the towering smokestack will stand as an iconic symbol, surrounded by expansive open spaces and lush wilderness.
