Description

The redevelopment of the former Molson brewery site into a new mixed-use district creates an opportunity to weave over half a kilometer of St. Lawrence riverfront into the city fabric, and showcases brewing heritage unique to Montreal.

The plan comprises varying typologies of streets and public spaces that bring vibrancy and connectivity to this new district. These include a river promenade, lively commercial, residential and community courtyards, shared streets, as well as alleys and passageways. Historic buildings and the iconic illuminated sign and clock express the heart of the industrial complex. Passing through the generous pedestrian terrace along Sohmer Park, the extended rue de la Commune axis expands the panorama towards the river, Île Sainte-Hélène and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
