CCxA has designed the streetscape and amenity pool garden on the podium roof deck of this 36 storey condominium tower near the foot of Yonge Street in downtown Toronto.
The streetscape builds upon the City standard for the district to establish a signature gateway (along with the 57 storey Libeskind L-Tower on the opposite corner) to the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood precinct. A parvis of black granite marks the threshold to the building, which also serves as a landing point for commuters and visitors coming to the city by train via Union Station.
On the roof of the parking podium is a large garden with a two-lane 50 metre south-facing infinity pool. A cascading water wall flowing along the entire length of the pool provides a tranquil yet dynamic backdrop for the roofscape which is designed to be a virtual park, replete with canopy trees, topography, lawns, shrubs and groundcover. The large softscape area and elevated mounds for trees provide the elements needed to ensure a durable and sustainable landscape.
