Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts – is a mixed-use retail / office / institutional and residential complex planned at Queens Quay Blvd East and Lower Jarvis Street on the Toronto Waterfront. The project is a mix of podia and towers reaching up to 45 storeys. This master-planned arts and culture inspired neighbourhood will become a visionary gateway to the East Bayfront District with a truly diverse composition balanced between workers, residents, consumers, and students.
Daniels Waterfront builds upon the place-making signature that established Sugar Beach as a popular Toronto destination. The landscape design extends the threshold to Sugar Beach and the waterfront promenade across Queens Quay Boulevard into the city, establishing a singular identity and optimising the privilege of this unique waterfront setting.
The retail and institutional edges of the ground floor are defined by the material palette of Sugar Beach, continuing the promenade axis that frames site lines to the harbour horizon. The inner courtyard defines a mid-block connection to the nearby Sherbourne Common, creating a flexible gathering space with a broad grand tiered perimeter for seeing and being seen.
The roof amenity recreates a perched Lake Ontario dunescape that extends across a succession of large terraces with a dynamic composition of sandy mounds, patios and walkways, and native wild dune grasses, all designed to emphasize views to the lake horizon.
