As studio director of design and CCxA partner since 2021, Yannick leads the renowned conceptual design team responsible for CCxA’s signature landscape projects. With over 18 years of professional experience, Yannick’s design approach is grounded in the CCxA principles of creative insight and rigorous research grounded in the specificity of each project, and an ability for translating poetics into reality with the dexterity for which CCxA is known. His dual education background in anthropology and landscape, combined with a passion for visual art and storytelling, feed his multidisciplinary design approach.
As design partner, Yannick directs major landscape projects, competitions, waterfront and heritage projects, and master plans in Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Chicago. The most recent include Edmonton’s Warehouse Campus Park, Montreal’s Dorchester Square,the Calgary-based Olympic Plaza; Toronto-area parks Love Park, Berczy Park, and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre; and Cascade Park/Lakeshore East in Chicago. He has provided creative direction on a number of master plan projects involving complex heritage and waterfront considerations, including the Molson Brewery Plant and neighborhoud reactivation in Montreal and the Square Dorchester and Place du Canada masterplan. A skilled generalist, his major projects also include renowned signature CCxA competitions and installations: The Ring, Pink Balls, 18 Shades of Gay in Montreal, or the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa.
Yannick joined (CCxA previously named Claude Cormier et Associés) in 2008, graduating from the University of Montreal with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 2005. He has taught landscape at the University of Montreal and the McGill University School of Architecture.
